When replacing a vehicles standard halogen bulbs with LED bulbs, some vehicles will require inline resistors to draw the power required by the cars computer system that will permit the bulbs to function properly.
Some common automobile makes requiring the inline error canbus include Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Hummer, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen and Volvo.
The issue is that LED bulbs draw less power than OEM bulbs and because your vehicle does not detect a sufficient power draw, it thinks the bulb is burnt out or not present. Therefore, you can get dashboard warnings that the bulb is burnt out, or bulb rejection where the bulb does not light at all, or rapid flashing in the case of turn signals. The inline error resistor canbus fixes this problem by drawing additional power to meet that drawn by the OEM bulbs.
